The Relevancy Curve: How Women Leaders Stay Visible, Memorable and Irreplaceable

0

Relevancy is one of the most underestimated leadership skills for women today. We focus on excellence, consistency, and performance – all essential, yet overlook the very thing that determines whether our work creates impact: visibility with intention.

Relevancy is not about being everywhere. It is about being remembered.

Across my work with women leaders, I’ve observed a pattern. Many are exceptionally skilled, deeply committed, and profoundly impactful, yet they struggle with feeling overlooked. Not because they lack value, but because their presence has not evolved as quickly as their leadership.

The world changes. We change. But if how we show up remains static, our influence begins to fade.

Relevancy is the ongoing practice of aligning your identity, your message, and your presence with the leader you are becoming — not the leader you once were.

This is where many leaders experience a quiet disconnect. Their wardrobe speaks to their past role, their communication reflects their previous season, and their presence no longer represents their vision. And without realising it, they step into rooms carrying an old version of themselves.

Relevancy is not reinvention. It is recalibration.

It is the intentional act of ensuring that your external presentation still aligns with your internal evolution. Whether you are navigating a transition, stepping into a more senior role, or redefining your leadership identity, the way you show up becomes your narrative.

In my Signature Styling work, I see this moment often. Brilliant women who have accomplished extraordinary things feel as though something no longer fits — and it’s rarely the clothes. It is their sense of self. Their leadership has matured, but their presence has paused. Bridging this gap is where relevance is rebuilt.

Relevancy has three pillars:

  • Awareness: recognising when you have outgrown an old version of yourself.
  • Alignment: updating your presence to reflect your current power.
  • Articulation: communicating your identity with clarity and confidence.

When these pillars come together, a woman becomes not just visible, but unforgettable.

This December, as the year concludes, is the perfect moment to reflect on your own relevancy curve. Who were you when this year began? Who are you now? And does the world see that version of you?

Relevancy is not about competing for attention. It is about embodying your truth with clarity.

And for women who feel ready to step into that next season, the Signature Style Audit offers a reflective, personalised space to reconnect with the identity behind your leadership. When your presence aligns with your purpose, influence follows naturally.
